COMFORTING GIRL, GREAT FOR SOMEONE WITH SOCIAL ANXIETY, WONDERFUL COMPANION SCOOBY - 5 years old, 88 pounds, house trained, friendly, kid/dog social Scooby arrived at VBACAC with her canine housemate, Boomer the beagle. They were surrendered due to no fault of their own. She is a big girl who is a bit defensive behind the shelter cage bars but once that door is opened, she's the best. She pulled a little on the leash as most shelter dogs do in their excitement of getting out of a cage. She enjoyed the treats I had and the pets I gave her. Scooby is described as a sweet and cuddly girl who loves attention. She would be great for someone with social anxieties as she seems to know when her humans are not feeling right. To boot, she knows just what to do! She'll come to you, lean on you, and comfort you. Scooby is the dog who will attach herself to your side. She (and Boomer) are both kid and dog social. Bring your kids and dogs in to meet her (or both if you like!) Remember it's important to remind children to be respectful of dogs and their space. FOSTER UPDATE: Scooby and Boomer are well behaved indoors and not destructive, aside from occasional cardboard boxes. Boomer has started digging in the yard, while Scooby loves chewing sticks and will eat cardboard if she finds it. They get along fine with the cats, curious but respectful when corrected-and generally mind their own business. Both enjoy simple treats, especially milk bones. Scooby prefers tug toys and chewing, while Boomer tends to want whatever Scooby has. Scooby isn't into fetch but likes interacting with toys, while both dogs spend a lot of time relaxing on the couch. Socially, Scooby is shy at first but warms up quickly, while Boomer is friendly with everyone. Overall, they're affectionate, sweet dogs; Scooby is excitable and attention seeking, and Boomer is laid back and loves belly rubs.
