Benji is a wrinkly Shar-Pei with a strong personality who needs a family familiar with the breed’s quirks. At 6 years old and around 40 pounds, Benji looks every bit the classic Shar-Pei and is fully house trained, though he might have an occasional accident when left overnight or alone. He came to the rescue because his old home struggled with his resource guarding around food, toys, bed, and even his people. If you’re patient and experienced with stubborn, strong-willed dogs, Benji has a softer side waiting for you—he’s playful and loves to cuddle once he trusts you. He enjoys going for walks and already knows a few basic commands. Benji can be uneasy in thunderstorms and fireworks and takes his time warming up, so a calm, consistent environment is best.
