About Rusty
Rusty is a senior terrier mix who has adapted impressively to being both deaf and blind, refusing to let his disabilities prevent him from enjoying life. He’s house trained and confidently uses a doggie door to come and go as he pleases. Crates aren’t his thing; at night, he happily sleeps on the floor near his foster parent’s bed in a cozy dog bed and blanket. If invited up to sleep in a human bed, he’d take that too. Rusty has a unique, charming prance when walking. He can’t jump up and needs a little help stepping down from things, but otherwise navigates his world with curiosity and resilience. Rusty does very well with other dogs, often mirroring their routines and excitement around food or walks. He tends to quietly follow his person around, though he may stop suddenly or, if left behind, catch up in a burst and occasionally bump into legs. This gentle pup enjoys affection but isn’t clingy. He likes being brushed and doesn’t mind a little light grooming. Rusty thrives with patience as he learns the layout of his new home, and once he settles in, his sweet personality shines.
