Meet Chap, now living just east of Houston. He’s a big Belgian Malinois puppy with sharp instincts and boundless energy—always up for an adventure, sprint across the yard, or a game with his favorite squeaky toy. Chap’s drive and smarts are classic for his breed, but he has a surprising soft spot for cuddles once he’s burned off steam. At a year and a half old, he leans into learning new routines and is very food-motivated, making training rewarding (if you have enough treats!). Chap is fully potty trained and does well in the car and at the vet, but still needs some work on home manners—right now, he moonlights as an uninvited “chef’s assistant” and won’t miss a chance to snack off the countertop. He gets along well with people (even strangers), but with his high prey drive and preference for being the solo canine in the home, he needs to be your only dog. Homes with young kids or cats aren’t a great fit. His foster is seeing progress on polite greetings, commands, and crate training. Chap’s ideal family will keep him busy, structure his day, and have patience for his quirks.
