Dodger: A Goofy, Loving Dog Looking for His Forever Home Traveling along a local busy highway, this guy was discovered and safely picked up, to keep him from getting hit, by his finders. Taking him home until they could get him to the shelter they, did keep him separate from their dog to make sure nothing happened between the two, not knowing his demeanor. While with his finders, it was discovered that he is likely very housebroken! They also shared with us that he is friendly, goofy and one big baby! They brought him to the shelter to be scanned and hopefully be reunited with his owner. Sadly, like so many other stray dogs and cats, there was no chip and no ID to contact a family should he have one. He remained on his required stray hold and no family ever came. Since being with us, we have discovered that he will try and dodge the leash going over his head, so we decided to name him Dodger! Once you get that leash over this sweet boy’s head, he is an easy walker in and out of his kennel, and to wherever you wish to go! He has met a similar in size, spayed female while with us, and was full of playful energy, zooming around with a wagging tail and play bowing all over the place! He is a gentle treat taker and he loves getting all the pets. He is just not a fan of that leash going over his head right now, so his perfect family will understand this fear and be patient in working with him on this. We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all. Because he was a stray, we don’t have information how he interacts with cats or children. Please come and meet this big, handsome goofball to see if he is meant to spend forever with your family! All of our adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate vaccines/preventatives. Adopters will need to establish vet care upon adopting to maintain their new family member’s health and wellness. And remember the 3-3-3 Rule when adopting a shelter pet. 3 days for your new pet to decompress 3 weeks for your new family member to settle in 3 months for them to build trust Dodger’s adoption fee is 80! We are a first come, first served and in-person adoption center and are located at 430 Bristol Drive in Statesville. We are open for adoptions Monday-Friday 12-5pm and Saturdays 11am-2pm.
