Betty is an adorable, 1 year old, 24lb Blue Heeler mix (or maybe just a perfect little pocket-sized Heeler!). This beautiful girl is coming to Colorado from a high-kill shelter in Texas, and we are so excited for her to finally get the chance at the happy, loving life she deserves. Betty is the perfect size for someone who loves the intelligence, loyalty, and fun personality of a Blue Heeler, but in a smaller, more portable package! At just 24 pounds, she’s compact enough for apartment or townhome living, easy to bring along on adventures, and the perfect size for cuddling on the couch after a fun day out. What really stands out about Betty is how incredibly friendly and social she is. She absolutely loves people and has a warm, happy personality that makes her easy to fall in love with. Betty is the kind of dog who greets you with a wagging tail, bright eyes, and excitement just to be near you. She’s affectionate without being overwhelming and has a sweet, easygoing temperament that makes her a joy to spend time with. Betty is also wonderful with other dogs and truly enjoys doggy companionship. Whether it’s playtime in the yard, neighborhood walks with dog friends, or simply relaxing alongside another pup, Betty is happy to make new friends. Because she’s so social, we think she could thrive in a home with another friendly dog, though she’d also likely do great as the center of attention in a loving home of her own. At only a year old, Betty still has that playful young-dog energy and curiosity about the world. She would love a family that will include her in daily life — walks, hikes, patio outings, trips to the park, or even just running errands together. Heelers are known for being intelligent and trainable, and Betty is at the perfect age for continued training, bonding, and learning all the routines of her forever home. After ending up in a crowded Texas shelter where so many wonderful dogs are overlooked, Betty is so ready for her fresh start. She deserves a family that will cherish her, continue building her confidence, and give her all the love and stability she’s been waiting for. In return, Betty promises endless companionship, tail wags, laughter, and unconditional love. We'd like to place Betty in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Betty is up to date on her vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
