She came from a crowded Chicago home and now spends her days figuring out exactly how much attention she wants—hint: she’d love some, but she’s still perfecting how to ask. Expect her to introduce herself with a loud, slightly baffled meow, and to settle in for pets, until she gets overwhelmed and offers a gentle nibble. It’s all classic Cricket, just working through her feelings. She’s gradually emerging from her shell, especially if canned food is involved. Catnip has become a new obsession, and she’s capable of turning any blanket into her personal landscape overnight. That signature blep adds to her charm. Like her foster sister Junebug, Cricket will need a home with another cat and a patient adopter who understands that confidence doesn’t happen overnight. She’s not a finished product, but the progress is rewarding to watch. Cricket attends Saturday and Sunday adoption events at the Verona Adoption Center and can also be met by appointment.
