About Mango

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Mango. We don't have a lot of history on this sweet girl... at first glance we thought she was a husky mix. But then we got her into foster care and we are all guessing she's a cattle dog / Labrador mix. Honestly - we don't have a clue what she is. hahahahaha! She very soft, very sweet and a lovely girl. She's petite - about 12# at 13 weeks. Currently in foster homes, she is learning all things puppy - crate training, housebreaking, and more! Her foster mom says: Mango loves love but still a bit shy/timid. She's doing great no accidents so far and is doing wonderful in crate." She's being fostered with adoptable dog Bunny and they are having a blast. She's only been with us a couple days, so we will continue to update her profile. This puppy is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age when they go home. She will need her last puppy shots around June 10th. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! They will cry in their crate, might need a potty break in the middle of the night. They will pee and poop in your house - your fault ;) - and will chew on your shoes, your children’s toys and maybe even the furniture. But… once transitioned into your home, will be life long companions! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Marysville. We don’t hold puppies, adoption applications may be approved in just a few days depending on how quickly references respond. If you are planning on a vacation or have an issue that may delay your ability to pick up your puppy within a few days of approval, please let us know in advance. Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your dog.
