About Chai

☕🤎 Meet Chai — the emotional support beverage you didn’t know came in dog form. Much like an actual cup of chai, she’s warm, comforting, slightly mysterious, and not particularly interested in participating in unnecessary drama before noon. She’s sweet, gentle, and easygoing, but she’s also independent enough that she doesn’t feel the need to be glued to your body 24/7 like some dogs who act like being alone for 12 seconds is a federal emergency. Chai is perfectly content relaxing nearby, supervising life from a comfy spot, and accepting affection on her terms. Basically, if your ideal companion is a calm, pretty little soul who brings peaceful vibes instead of constant nonsense… Chai may just be your perfect cup. ☕✨ 📍 Location: Stillwater, OK -Adopters will need to come pick up their new furry family member themselves. Apply at: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Chai is a 1.5-year-old, 65–70 pound female Great Pyrenees who came to us after her owner experienced unexpected medical issues that sadly left them unable to properly care for her anymore. While it’s clear she was very loved, her family knew she deserved a home that could continue giving her the care, stability, and attention she needs moving forward. Now Chai is ready for her next chapter — preferably one involving soft beds, calm company, leisurely neighborhood security patrols, and people who appreciate a dog that doesn’t feel the need to turn every single moment into a full-contact sport. When it comes to meeting new people, Chai does well overall, but she can be a little hesitant at first while she figures out the situation. She’s not the type to immediately throw herself into someone’s lap like a Labrador running for elected office. Once she realizes everything is okay though, she happily accepts attention and pets without being overly pushy or needy about it. As far as other dogs go, Chai has been a pretty easygoing roommate. She currently lives with a bouncy Goldendoodle, which honestly sounds like the canine equivalent of pairing a yoga instructor with someone who drinks several shots of espresso and wakes up super early with a smile on their face. She hasn’t been around cats in foster care, so we can’t confidently say yet whether she sees them as roommates, tiny weird dogs, or suspicious household decorations. Kids are also still an unknown since she hasn’t met any while in foster care. Based on her personality though, she seems more likely to quietly observe the chaos from a safe distance than immediately cannonball herself into it. If you’re looking for a dog whose idea of a good time is scaling mountains, running marathons, and participating in fourteen enrichment activities before breakfast… Chai would respectfully like to decline that invitation and return to her comfy spot on the couch. This girl’s energy level is sitting at about a 3/10. She’s absolutely a homebody at heart. Chai enjoys quietly existing near her people, calmly observing the household like a fluffy little neighborhood watch volunteer, and occasionally wrestling or playing with her foster’s dog when the mood strikes. Otherwise? She’s perfectly content just vibing peacefully indoors without feeling the need to create unnecessary drama for entertainment purposes. On leash, she’s been doing very well with a harness. She can be a little hesitant about leaving the house initially — mostly because Chai likes time to emotionally process new things but once she gets going, she walks nicely without much pulling. Car rides? She is a professional passenger princess. As for toys… Chai has yet to discover the appeal. While some dogs are out here destroying squeaky toys like tiny tax-paying velociraptors, Chai seems to be operating under the belief that toys are beneath her current interests. At least for now. Water? Jury’s still out on that one too. Overall, Chai is an incredibly easygoing, quiet, and thoughtful dog who is still building confidence and trust as she settles into foster care. She has a cautious side, but she’s not fragile or helpless about it — she coexists beautifully with her foster’s dog and has a wonderfully calm, balanced personality. One of the nicest things about Chai? She’s genuinely an easy dog to live with. This girl has been free roaming in her foster home and has handled it like a tiny fluffy tenant who is determined to keep her security deposit intact. No counter surfing. No chewing random objects. No redecorating the house with shredded paper towels. No “I ate the remote because you went to the bathroom without me” behavior. She also learned how to use the doggie door very quickly. She knows commands like “sit” and “come,” and is currently working on “leave it” and better door manners. Which, in Pyr terms, basically means she’s politely considering your suggestions before deciding whether they align with her personal beliefs. She hasn’t been kenneled in her foster home because honestly… she hasn’t needed to be. Chai free roams beautifully when left alone and has proven herself to be incredibly trustworthy. As for barking, she’s surprisingly quiet for a Great Pyrenees. She very rarely barks indoors and will usually only sound the alarm outside if she hears something suspicious. So if you’ve been searching for a calm, beautiful Great Pyrenees girl who brings peaceful vibes instead of constant nonsense… Chai may just be your perfect match. ☕🤎If you think your home may be the right fit for this calm, thoughtful girl, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application so we can send it over to her foster family for review. 🚨 PLEASE NOTE: Applying for Chai does, in fact, require actual effort. You cannot simply whisper “I want her” into the universe and expect a 70-pound Great Pyrenees to magically appear in your living room by sunrise. Science has not advanced that far yet. Also, Chai is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and adopters will need to pick her up there. She will not be launched through Amazon Prime, teleported via emotional connection, or delivered by carrier pigeon. Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
