Meet Bellarue 🤍 First of all… this girl is GORGEOUS. Bellarue is a 32-pound beagle/golden retriever mix with the rich, beautiful coloring of a golden retriever, the sweetest floppy beagle ears, and a fluffy tail that honestly looks a little chow-like. She’s basically all the best parts of several breeds rolled into one ridiculously adorable package. And yet somehow, Bellarue became the shelter’s longest resident. As dog after dog walked out with adopters, Bellarue stayed behind. Not because she wasn’t wonderful — but because she’s shy. In a loud shelter full of outgoing dogs demanding attention, Bellarue quietly faded into the background. You have to go slow with her at first. You have to give her a moment to feel safe. But here’s the thing about Bellarue: if you give her that chance, she completely blossoms. Once she trusts you, this sweet girl turns into the cuddliest, happiest little companion. She seeks out affection, melts into snuggles, wags her tail nonstop, and even gets the cutest little zoomies when she’s excited. She loves to play, but she also has such a calm, gentle energy about her. She’s the kind of dog who makes a house feel peaceful. Bellarue is house trained, wonderful with cats, and great with other dogs — although she’d probably prefer dog friends with good manners because, frankly, she’s a lady and the wild party animals are not really her thing. 🤭 She’s also the perfect size for almost any home. Big enough to join you on adventures, small enough to curl up comfortably beside you on the couch. The only thing to know is that despite her petite size, Bellarue has some impressive hops and shouldn’t be left alone in a yard without tall secure fencing… because apparently this classy little lady has Olympic-level jumping abilities. Given a little patience, Bellarue wiggles her way into every single heart she meets. She is impossible not to love. We know if you give her a chance, you’ll fall in love too. ✨
