About Lj
LJ (Little John) lost his longtime home after his elderly owners could no longer care for him, but he’s carried that same gentle sweetness forward. At 10 years old and around 45 pounds, this Basset Hound/Beagle mix is about as mellow and loving as they come. He gets along with cats, is easy with other dogs (as long as they give him his space), and shows only patience and calm with children—basically, LJ was raised in an environment where he learned to trust everyone. He loves leaning in for head scratches, belly rubs, and will greet you every time you come home like you’re his favorite person. Life in foster has revealed even more. LJ doesn’t mind being left alone and will just nap quietly while you’re gone. He sleeps through the night curled up at the foot of your bed, doesn’t get worked up over little things, and is reliably house-trained. While he’s happy to stroll by your side on walks, he’s equally content to hang out and take it slow. LJ isn’t big on toys, but he’s not a resource guarder, and he’ll probably show more of his charming personality as he settles in for good. Born April 14, LJ is an Aries—known for loyalty but a love for cozy routines. If you’re looking for a soft-souled companion ready for naps, short walks, and unconditional affection, LJ fits the bill.
