Nellie is a chihuahua mix, her age is estimated to be around 8 years young. She was surrendered due to her owner going into a senior living setting. Nellie has been a mother multiple times in her life, which has left her with some of the imperfections motherhood brings. She is cat friendly, small dog friendly, and housebroke most of the time. She will use pee pads and will go outside if you take her out routinely, she will not initiate going out. Nellie is not a fan of cold weather or rain, she will try to get back into the house as soon as she knows the weather is not to her liking. She loves to be with her people lying next to you on the couch. Nellie is not a fan of being held for too long, she is an independent lady. She is not very active so a low key lifestyle would suit her fine. She does walk on a leash but does fine off leash as well. She does not try to run away and is always polite. No barking unless something happens that calls for a bark. No chewing, she is over all of the puppy behaviors. She is crate trained and will spend time in her crate on her own. I think if you wanted a bed buddy, she would not probably hate that. She is not a morning dog, she prefers to stay in bed. Bathing is not something she enjoys but tolerates. Nellie does not like you to try to clean her eyes, she will pull away. I do not think she has had a lot of grooming in the past so all of that is new to her. She has definitely been exposed to human food but does not beg, she will patiently wait in the hopes of something falls. Nellie is somewhat of a picky eater when it comes to dog food, we feed Fresh Pet and Purina One kibble. We also tried Pedigree canned food and Little Caesars, she would eventually eat any of the ones mentioned but was not thrilled about it. No food aggression ever. Overall, she is an awesome girl that will bring her new family so much joy and love. We have not had her around children or large dogs, our lifestyle does not promote those interactions. She is a chihuahua mix, so small children may not be her thing. She has never been nippy and has as needed gently corrected our kitten (which was needed). Nellie does have a cough, kennel cough was ruled out prior to her spay. She does have a heart murmur that was found during her pre-spay exam. She has been chipped, her rabies vaccine is up to date as is DAPP and Bordetella. She is heart worm negative. It was noted that she growth in her mouth (upper left pre-molar) and a biopsy was performed. We have loved being a part of her journey and are excited for her to find her forever family.
