About Hallie
Hallie spent her whole life confined before landing in her foster home. When she arrived, everything was new—she darted around in sheer excitement, soaking up the freedom she'd never known. Hallie became a devoted and nurturing mom to her litter, caring for her pups while timidly getting used to the humans in her life. She bonded quickly with her foster mom, now demanding affection, belly rubs, and laps to snuggle on. Hallie’s favorite time is bedtime, curling up under a pile of blankets and enjoying her routine treat. She learned play from her foster brother and now lights up when toys come out. She watches, copies, and picks up routines easily—especially if treats are involved. Hallie is still nervous around men. She has improved, will approach for treats, and gets excited for foster dad’s return, but still shies away from being touched by him and barks at men she doesn’t know. She’s never shown aggression, just discomfort and caution. An adopter with patience and a willingness to continue helping Hallie grow will see her confidence bloom. She’d benefit from ongoing positive training and plenty of love. Hallie’s ready to be the center of attention and deserves a family who’ll help her leave her past behind. Questions about Hallie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Hallie, a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, is generally best suited for a home environment that provides structure and safety, especially since she is still gaining confidence. A calm household with patient owners would allow her to flourish.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Given her small size, Hallie doesn't need a vast yard but does enjoy having a secure outdoor space to explore and play. Regular walks or access to a safe, fenced area would help meet her needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Dachshund/Chihuahua mixes like Hallie often do well in homes with older, respectful children. Because she is shy with new people, introductions should be calm and gentle.
