About Jake
Jake won't hand out his trust on day one, but once he does, you get all of himāno reservations. He's about a year old, a medium-sized, chocolate brindle mix caught in that in-between, energetic adolescent stage. Jake is curious, athletic, and thoughtful in new environments. Change makes him pause, not panic, and it takes him some real time to warm up. He won't rush; he'd rather sniff around and figure youāand the worldāout at his own speed. That's not nerves, it's thinking. Once you're part of his inner circle, Jake unlocks. He loves movement, puzzles, enthusiastic rounds of fetch, and whatever unique technique he's inventing for catching. He's funny about it and expects you'll appreciate his style. Affection is a big part of Jake's life, but his kisses often come with that telltale goofinessāsometimes a fast lick, sometimes more like a gentle bite. He's not being rough, just still sorting out boundaries. When genuinely happy, his tongue hangs left and refuses to budge. Jakeās growth curve is still steep. What he needs is someone committed to his structureāguidance, boundaries, and predictability, especially from someone with a track record handling dogs moving through these adolescent leaps. A calm, steady home and a secure yard are non-negotiable. Jake gets along with other dogs, but homes with young kids probably arenāt the right fit for this stage of his life. He isnāt trying to fill a slot. Jake is looking for the one who will match his commitment as he finds his footing. Think he sounds like your kind of challenge? Ready to meet your new best friend?
