Meet Buddy Blues, a 7-year-old Golden Retriever / Chocolate Lab mix, weighing 75 pounds (as of 5/15/26). He was found as a stray in Tennessee playing the blues on his guitar as he waited for someone to notice his sweet, soulful sound. This gentleman is looking for a home where he can settle down and enjoy the rest of his golden years! UPDATE: He is so sweet, wants to be somebody's best friend. He's smart and adapts well to situations. Loves playing fetch with a tennis ball. He's so well behaved in the house, great manners. He will bark to go out and to come back in. Buddy Blues is a handsome gentleman with a heart as golden as his personality. He's the perfect mix of calm, loving, and loyal that will instantly melt hearts and have you wanting more! He has the sweet nature and affectionate personality of a Golden Retriever with (what we believe) is a dash Chocolate Lab that gives him his stunning chocolate coat. Buddy's in very good health and has a peaceful, easygoing temperament that makes him such a joy to be around. He's great with other dogs and doesn't mind the kiddos either. Maybe he'll teach them to play the harmonica! He's always looking for band members! He's lived in a home with cats, but is a little too interested, so a cat-free home would be best. No hard feelings, kitties! He's walked great on a leash and has been crated. He currently has a doggie door to go in and out as he pleases. Buddy loves spending time with people, enjoys affection, and has a comforting, gentle presence. Looking for a best friend to share a life with? Look no further than Buddy Blues! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
