About Archer

Hi there, future best friend! My name is Archer, and I’m a handsome 1-year-old black Lab with a heart that’s just waiting to shine. I found my way to the shelter as a stray, so I’m still figuring out this big, busy world but I promise I’m trying my best every single day. At first I can be a little shy, especially around strangers, so I need someone patient who will take things slow and let me build trust at my own pace. Once I feel safe though, my sweet side really comes out. I love attention, enjoy being near my people, and I’ve got plenty of love (and tail wags!) to give. I’ve done well in playgroups here, so I might enjoy having a canine sibling, but we’d definitely need to meet first to make sure we’re a good match. I’m still a young guy and I'm SO excited to learn new things. I’m hoping for an owner who can help me with basic training and building confidence. I recently tried out a home, and it just wasn’t the right fit for me yet. I got overwhelmed meeting new people too quickly and showed that I need slower introductions with new friends. While in the shelter, I am working on crate training; it's pretty hard, but the staff say I'm getting better at it every day. They even said I have my own special crate here that I can take home with me when I am adopted! The good news? I’m young, smart, and eager to find my forever family.... I just need the right person to find me. If you’re patient, experienced, and believe in helping a dog grow into his best self, I think we could be something really special. Come meet me and let’s start our story together. *Archer will need to meet his potential adopters a few times before going home with them; it takes him a little while to feel safe around new friends, but if you are willing to schedule a few dates with this handsome fella, we know you'll both be falling in love in no time! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. Your dog’s adoption fee includes: - Current age-appropriate CORE Vaccines (Rabies/DHPP/Bordetella) - Heartworm Tested - Current on NexGard PLUS Monthly Preventative Chew (Flea/Tick/Heartworm Preventative & Dewormer) - Spaying or Neutering - 24-Petwatch Microchip Adoption fee: $135.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2026 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $11.30. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$9.30) Leash and collar included
