Meet Oreo — a one-and-a-half-year-old pittie mix with the sweetest soul just waiting to blossom. At around 48 pounds, this beautiful girl came to us alongside her sister Moon, but unlike her outgoing sibling, Oreo is having a much harder time adjusting to shelter life. Oreo is very shy and skittish at first, and the shelter environment has been overwhelming for her. But once she realizes you’re there to love her, her gentle and affectionate personality begins to shine through. She’s the kind of dog that forms deep bonds with the people she trusts most. She is wonderful with other dogs, great with cats, and would truly benefit from having another confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes and build her confidence. Oreo would do best in a calmer home with teenagers or adults who can respect her space, move patiently at her pace, and give her the time she needs to feel safe. A fenced-in yard is strongly preferred for this timid girl while she continues building confidence in the world around her. Oreo may not be the dog running up to greet everyone right away, but for the person willing to give her patience and understanding, the reward of earning her trust will be something truly special.
