About Lucille: Waiting To Exhale

At 8 years old and about 30 pounds, this terrier mix is a quiet, gentle presence who is hoping for a soft place to land, and a family she loves and who loves her. Spayed, healthy, and currently living in a foster home, Lucille has settled into a calm routine and is taking life one comfortable day at a time. When Lucille first arrived at the shelter as a stray, she was had a severe urinary tract infection and a bladder full of stones. It is remarkable how she managed to persevere and keep her calm, even temperament. Thankfully, one of our rescue partners stepped in, took her out of the shelter, an got her the medical care she urgently needed. Today, Lucille is fully healed — and ready for the next chapter of her life. Lucille is what we call a bit of an old soul. Lucille is shy at first, but there’s a quiet sweetness to her that comes through once she feels safe. She's looking for a low-key, peaceful, relaxing home. Lucille is a “let’s sit on the couch and keep each other company” kind of dog. Her ideal day? Being near her person, maybe lounging beside you while you read, watching TV, or even doing the crossword with you. A leisurely walk would be good, too. She’s not demanding, not high-maintenance — just quietly present. That same easygoing nature carries over into how she interacts with the world around her. During her time in foster, Lucille has been around other dogs, cats, and kids, and she’s done well with them all. She just coexists peacefully — content to do her own thing and let everyone else do theirs. Lucille simply needs a calm home, a steady routine, and someone willing to give her the comfort, security, and love she’s likely never had. She deserves a place where she can finally exhale.
