About Fauna

* Interested in adopting? Please read the dog’s full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application at www.dpsrescue.org. All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption Fee: $800 If woodland fairies were real, one of them would absolutely turn into Fauna at night. This 5-6 month old Yorkie puppy looks like she wandered straight out of an enchanted forest, accidentally got lost, and ended up in rescue instead. Rescued from the shelter, Fauna is tiny, fluffy, non-shedding, ridiculously adorable, and somehow manages to look both elegant and completely chaotic at the exact same time. And listen. The pictures? Dangerous. People are going to open her profile thinking:“Aw cute little dog.” Then 14 photos later they’re emotionally attached, researching grooming brushes on Amazon, and explaining to family members why they suddenly need a tiny woodland creature living in their house. Fauna is still very much a puppy, which means she approaches life with the confidence of someone who has never paid taxes or faced consequences. She zooms. She spins. She tilts her head like she personally understands every word you are saying. She moves so fast her foster family jokes her real name should be “Speed.” Honestly, half the time she appears and disappears like a magical forest cryptid. Fauna started out shy and nervous when she first arrived. Loud noises startled her and the world felt very big for such a tiny girl. But once she realized she was safe, her goofy little personality started blooming fast. Now?She is playful, affectionate, funny, cuddly, and deeply committed to following her humans absolutely everywhere. Bathroom? She’s coming.Kitchen? Obviously.Bedtime? Wonderful. She has already claimed your pillow. This girl does not simply sleep in bed.Fauna believes she is PART of the bed décor. Preferably positioned directly against the pillow like a tiny decorative princess loaf. And if you move her?She will simply return to her assigned sleeping position like:“Thank you for your feedback. I have decided to ignore it.” Fauna is wonderfully affectionate and loves being held. She has that classic baby-dog energy where she can go from zooming around the house at lightning speed to suddenly wanting to be cradled like an infant within thirty seconds. She also makes tiny squeaky noises instead of full barks, which somehow makes her even more ridiculous and lovable. Imagine a stressed-out woodland mouse trying to act intimidating. Despite all her puppy antics, Fauna is actually very well behaved overall. She walks beautifully on leash, stays close by your side, doesn’t bark at dogs, cats, or squirrels, and has already started learning routines from the foster dog in the home. She’s smart and catches onto things quickly. That said... she IS still a puppy. House training is a work in progress, she occasionally chews plastic like it personally offended her, and she enjoys “rowing” herself dramatically across carpets, couches, grass, and basically any available surface when excited. We truly cannot explain the rowing. We can only respect it. Fauna will require regular grooming to keep her beautiful non-shedding coat looking its best, so future adopters should be prepared for brush appointments, grooming maintenance, and likely spending an unreasonable amount of time telling her how pretty she is. And honestly? She will believe every word. Fauna would thrive in a patient, loving home that understands shy puppies need time to blossom. Once she trusts you, you get to witness the transformation from timid little shelter pup into hilarious tiny sidekick with a huge personality. If your dream dog is: non-shedding affectionate funny equal parts princess and gremlin small enough to steal your pillow but large enough to completely take over your life Well, then Fauna may be your perfect match. And fair warning:dogs this cute create competition. Do not be surprised if people suddenly start “just casually checking adoption listings” the second they see her photos.
