About Chili
Chili is a 7-month-old Red Heeler and Dachshund mix tipping the scales at 20–25 pounds. He’s a firecracker—playful, loud, spunky, and absolutely packed with character. If you have an arsenal of squeaky toys and bones, you’ll win his heart fast. Chili is happiest when there’s another dog in the house to roughhouse and share in the chaos. He gets along well with other dogs and does okay with cats, though he turns the occasional chase into a game. Chili isn’t suited for homes with small kids, but older, savvy kids are just fine, especially those who respect his need for space sometimes. Crate trained? Yes, and he keeps it tidy, but don’t expect silence—he makes sure everyone knows he objects to being left alone. That means apartment living isn’t his style. Potty training is coming along, especially with a doggy door, and he’s quick on the learning curve. He's not keen on baths, and car rides tend to come with vocal commentary unless you let him ride in your lap. Chili needs someone who works from home or can be nearby most of the day; he’s deeply loyal and struggles with being left behind. He’s made for someone who wants a silly, constantly by-your-side best friend who'll never let you feel alone. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Chili
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Chili, as an Australian Cattle Dog/Dachshund mix, does best in a home with space to play and a secure yard. He’s not an apartment dog, and will thrive somewhere that lets him be active and involved with his people.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A fenced yard or accessible, safe outdoor area is ideal for Chili. His breed mix needs daily exercise and outdoor play, so enough space for zoomies and fetch is important.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chili would do best with older children who understand dogs and give him space when needed. His mix is spirited and may not be a match for very young kids.
