About Wild Cherry

🍒 Meet Wild Cherry — the Capri Sun flavor that absolutely would’ve been banned from elementary schools for causing excessive excitement and emotional attachment. Location: Tulsa, OK Adoption App: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app You know those kids at summer camp who somehow made everyone their best friend within 14 minutes? That’s Wild Cherry. If there’s fun happening, she would like to RSVP immediately. If there’s a lap available, she’s already in it. If another dog is playing, she assumes she was personally invited. Wild Cherry has the kind of temperament rescue people dream about and fosters try not to get emotionally attached to (and fail at miserably). She genuinely enjoys being around people, other dogs, and pretty much anyone willing to acknowledge her existence for more than three seconds. She’s affectionate without being overwhelming, playful without acting like she just consumed six espresso shots, and sweet enough to make you forget she’ll eventually discover socks are collectible treasures. Honestly, Wild Cherry feels less like a dog and more like that one kid at summer camp who somehow made friends with everybody in the first ten minutes and left with everyone crying at pickup. She’s just easy to love. Cherry is an 11-week-old, 5-pound female Great Pyrenees mix. Wild Cherry is the kind of puppy people would normally trip over themselves to adopt. Tiny. Fluffy. Sweet. Cute enough to make grown adults lose all ability to speak in a normal voice. And yet somehow, she, her siblings, and her mama Pacific were abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Thankfully, kind samaritans alerted us to an extremely emaciated mama dog and her babies before it was too late. And honestly? It was almost too late for Cherry anyway. When she came to us, this tiny little juice pouch was severely anemic from a horrifying tick infestation. We’re not talking “oh I found a tick” levels here. We’re talking OVER 100 ticks removed from her body… and there were STILL more being found afterward like some kind of nightmare scavenger hunt nobody signed up for. Cherry was so weak she required hospitalization and even needed a blood transfusion to survive. Which is honestly a lot for a puppy who currently weighs about the same as an overstuffed burrito. Now? She’s bounced back into the happiest, cuddliest, most loving little puppy imaginable. She plays, snuggles, follows people around, and acts like the world personally owes her friendship. She has zero bitterness despite everything she’s been through. Meanwhile most of us get mildly inconvenienced at Starbucks and think about it for three business days. Now before the “BUT SHE’S SO SMALL” committee assembles in the comments — yes, she’s tiny right now. VERY tiny. But this entire family came to us severely malnourished, so her current size is not a reliable indicator of her adult size. We are ESTIMATING she’ll likely end up somewhere around 60–70 pounds, but honestly? That’s our best educated guess, not a legally binding contract. She could end up smaller. She could end up bigger. Daddy remains an unknown traveling salesman with zero accountability, while mama Pacific appears to be Great Pyrenees. Despite her rough start, Wild Cherry somehow still approaches life like every single creature on earth was personally sent here to be her friend. Other dogs? She LOVES them. Big dogs, little dogs, sleepy dogs, dogs minding their own business trying to enjoy a peaceful nap in the yard — Wild Cherry considers all of them potential companions. In fact, if another dog lays down outside, there’s a very high chance she’ll toddle right over and plop down beside them like, “Excellent. We rest together now.” There are no cats in her foster home currently, so we can’t officially report on her feline diplomacy skills yet. However, given her overall sweet and social personality, she’s not exactly coming across like a future criminal mastermind. She also hasn’t been around children yet, but so far Wild Cherry has shown herself to be an incredibly cheerful and people-loving little puppy. She especially proved that at the veterinarian, where she apparently decided the entire clinic existed solely to admire her. While most puppies would file “hospital stay” under traumatic life events, Wild Cherry rolled in acting like she was there for a celebrity meet-and-greet tour. Wild Cherry currently sits at about a 7/10 on the energy scale. She has plenty of playful puppy energy, enjoys exploring, and absolutely loves interacting with the other dogs, but she also has a wonderfully sweet, balanced personality that keeps her from feeling overwhelming. Because she’s still a baby and hasn’t completed all of her vaccines yet, her adventures have been limited to the foster yard for safety due to Parvo risk. So at this stage, we can’t fully report on whether she’ll grow into an outdoorsy hiking companion, a professional couch goblin, or a dramatic combination of both. Right now, she mostly seems thrilled just to exist wherever her people and dog friends happen to be. And honestly, her overall temperament has been incredibly good. Wild Cherry is social, cheerful, affectionate, playful, and very easy to love. She has the kind of naturally sweet disposition that makes people immediately start imagining her in their house approximately twelve seconds after meeting her. Now, while Wild Cherry may look like a tiny magical woodland marshmallow who has never once had an impure thought in her life, let us all remember an important scientific fact: she is still a puppy. A very cute puppy, yes. But still a creature currently operating with the judgment and decision-making skills of a raccoon that found an energy drink. Her future family will need to continue working on all the normal puppy basics, including potty training, leash training, socialization, basic manners, and general “please do not eat that” life skills. Socialization will also be incredibly important for her while she’s young. Continued positive exposure to new people, places, sounds, and experiences will help her grow into a confident, well-rounded adult dog instead of a dramatic land cloud convinced the Amazon driver is part of an elaborate conspiracy. And of course: puppy-proofing. Because puppies possess an almost supernatural ability to locate the ONE item in your house you forgot to move. The good news is that Wild Cherry has an absolutely wonderful temperament and genuinely enjoys people and other dogs, which gives her a fantastic foundation to build on. She’s smart, affectionate, eager to be involved, and clearly very resilient. She just needs a family willing to guide her through all the normal puppy nonsense while remembering that underneath the chaos of puppyhood is going to be one incredibly loving companion. So if you’re looking for a puppy who survived an actual medical horror movie only to come out the other side as a happy little cuddle goblin with endless love to give… Wild Cherry might just be your girl. 🍒 She’s sweet, social, resilient, playful, cuddly, ridiculously adorable, and somehow still believes every human she meets is a potential best friend despite humanity collectively failing her in the beginning. Now for the important part: No, you cannot simply manifest ownership of Wild Cherry by commenting “mine.” No, sending us 14 heart emojis and “OMG I LOVE HER” does not legally bind her to you. And no, she unfortunately cannot Uber herself to your house. You MUST fill out an adoption application so we can send it over to her foster family for review like civilized adults participating in organized rescue operations. 📍Wild Cherry is located in Tulsa, OK and must be picked up there. 📝 Apply here: Pyr Paws N Fluffy Tails Rescue Adoption Application Please share this tiny survivor so she can finally get the happy ending she fought so hard for. 💕
