Meet Poncho - a 5 year old, 11-pound bundle of charm with a heart as big as his adorable smile. Found as a stray in rough condition, Poncho has completely blossomed in foster care and quickly wins over everyone he meets. Our best guess is that he's a "Cava Tzu," a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Shih Tzu mix, though whatever his breed may be, one thing is certain: he's an absolute gentleman. Poncho checks nearly every box you could hope for in a companion - playful, affectionate, friendly, good with kids, crate-trained, quiet, easy for the groomer, and wonderful with other dogs. He's currently being fostered in the San Antonio area, where he enjoys romping around the yard, wrestling and playing with the other small dogs in the home, and chasing toys and balls. Once playtime is over, he's happiest curled up beside his person or relaxing at your feet. He's been introduced to leash walking and while he can pull a little at first, he's smart and eager to learn. Poncho is also gentle and sweet with children. His reaction to cats is currently unknown. He does get excited and a bit vocal when people come home or when it's mealtime, but otherwise he's a calm and quiet companion. Poncho is crate trained, although he'd much rather be snuggled up with his favorite human. In his foster home, he wears a male belly band during the day due to some friendly competition among the resident dogs, but he does perfectly fine without it overnight. He is microchipped, neutered, fully vaccinated, current on preventatives including ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention and Bravecto flea and tick prevention, and ready to find the loving forever home he deserves.
