AvailableAbout Willy
Willy is ready to travel to a community that will truly cherish him as a family member. He is currently in Oklahoma at our rescue. Because we want his transition to be as smooth as possible, we arrange direct-to-adopter transport to specific cities (listed below!). Adoptions are finalized in advance so that Willy can hop off the transport and right into your waiting arms. We stand by our pups for life—in the rare event it isn't a perfect match, Willy is never without a safety net; he will simply return to our care in Oklahoma on the next available transport until his perfect home is found. Meet Willy: The Gentle Soul with a Big Heart (and a Hilarious "Cough") If you’re looking for a dog that embodies the word "friendly," look no further than Willy. This stunning 1.5 to 2-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer is a "boutique" find—a high-drive working breed with the temperament of a complete sweetheart. Social Life & Personality Willy is the ultimate team player. He currently lives in a yard with multiple dogs of all sizes and genders, and he does wonderfully with every single one of them. In fact, he was surrendered because his previous owner's dog didn't care for him, despite Willy's best efforts to be friends. He truly loves the company of other canines! He is exceptionally well-mannered, loving, and thrives on human attention. He is very gentle and a loving soul. The "Attention" Cough Willy has a quirky side that will keep you laughing. He has an intermittent hacking cough that had us concerned, so we took him to the vet for a full workup. • Heartworm Test: Negative! • Chest & Throat X-rays: Completely clear! The vet’s official diagnosis? He’s an attention seeker. Willy has figured out that coughing gets people to look at him, and he’s been known to "conveniently" start hacking the moment he sees someone else getting petted. He’s a smart boy who knows exactly how to get back into the spotlight! Willy’s Fast Facts: • Breed: German Wirehaired Pointer • Weight: 72 pounds • Energy Level: HIGH. Willy is a true pointer; he loves to run, explore, and be outdoors. • Leash Skills: Walks well on a leash. • Kids & Cats: His previous owner reported he is great with children and didn't mind the neighborhood cats. • House Habits: Reported to be housebroken and a perfect gentleman indoors. Ideal Home Willy would thrive in an active home that understands the needs of high-energy working breeds. He would love a yard to run in and, most importantly, a family (and perhaps a dog sibling!) that will give him all the attention he craves—even when he isn't faking a cough for it. His adoption includes: • Fully Vetted: Willy is already neutered and up-to-date on all his essential vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP series, and Bordetella). • Prevention: He has been dewormed, is heartworm negative, and is kept on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. • Safety First: To ensure he is in tip-top shape for his new family, he will be microchipped and receive a fresh fecal exam and a certified Health Certificate—all performed within 10 days of his transport date.
