Smudge is one of Bella’s four kittens discovered hiding out in a heating vent of an empty apartment with her brother and sisters. After fending for themselves with almost no people contact, Smudge and her siblings are cautious around humans. She has started taking treats from volunteers’ hands, but she still isn’t sure about people touching her. The group is making slow progress as they adjust to more regular care and gentle handling. Smudge is becoming braver every day and just needs a bit more time to gain confidence. She will do best in a patient home where folks can continue helping her open up.
