About Lumi

Lumi is a 1-year-old, spayed, Samoyed-mix, female. She is currently being fostered in the greater Milwaukee, WI area. Lumi came to us quite shy from the Iowa hoarding property. Lumi still is a shy girl and is cautious of new people, but has settled in well to her foster home and has bonded with her foster mom and dad. Lumi will likely require an adjustment period as she gets to know her new family and learn about her new environment - therefore she is available for foster-to-adopt (WI - IL - IA - MN) More about Lumi: How would you describe their personality? Curious, willing to love and be loved. Trust will have to be earned. Lumi is better in a home with her people relaxing. She appreciates the slower pace of life. She is not a dog to take everywhere with you, or a dog who will want to meet new people or live an active lifestyle. What is YOUR favorite thing about her? We love the curiosity and that her fear hasn't made her submissive, just cautious. What is her favorite thing to do? Lumi enjoys chilling out where she can see her humans, while snoozing, chewing on a collagen chew or play with her plushie toy. What is her favorite toy? Lumi's favorite toy varies from something that squeaks to her plushie. Is she confident and well adjusted, or would she do better with a confident dog in their new home? She is very confident in our two-person home, yet I have felt she would enjoy the company of other dogs. *please note she has adjusted well to her current home, but she will likely be shy and need patience adjusting and blossoming in a new home. She likely will be cautious and nervous around her new family at first. Is she snuggly, prefer to keep to themselves, or combination? Combination - once she knows you, she cherishes long sessions. What is she currently eating? Purina One brown rice & chicken. For premium treats - hot dog pieces Is she potty trained/or how is her progress on potty training? Lumi is potty trained; she knows what walks are for and usually communicates when she needs to go. She is on a routine Are there any toys, items, or chews that are not safe for them that might be ok for another dog? No Has she been around cats? Dogs? Children? How did they do/interact with them? Lumi has been in an only dog foster home, but she did come from a hoarding situation with many many Samoyeds. She likely would benefit from being in a home with another confident well adjusted dog. Lumi should not live with nervous or anxious dogs. She has shown interest in other dogs but the humans with the other dogs have served as a deterrent. Any adoption deal breakers? ex. no cats, dogs, kids? Has to have a confident dog companion? etc No kids under 13-years-old; loud noises and too many people scare her. Another confident dog companion would be great for her. She should not live with another nervous or anxious dog.
