Meet Rafael, a six-year-old Husky/Malamute mix weighing 92 pounds. Rafael is a handsome Husky/Malamute mix who brings together the best (and most entertaining) traits of these iconic northern breeds. He’s friendly and has done well with a finder’s smaller dog, but he can also be a bit aloof at times — very typical of his independent nature. Like many Husky and Alaskan Malamute mixes, Rafael has a bit of a stubborn streak. These breeds are known for their intelligence, strong will, and love of doing things on their own terms. That means Rafael will thrive with an adopter who understands the importance of consistency, patience, and a good sense of humor when it comes to training. He’s doing okay on leash and will benefit from continued guidance to build good habits. With regular exercise and mental enrichment, Rafael will be a much happier (and more cooperative) companion. These breeds were originally developed for endurance and work, so having an outlet for his energy is key. And of course, there’s the fluff — Rafael is delightfully chunky and covered in a thick coat that will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best.
