Cookie is a 3yo, 69lb sweetheart who has clearly been through a lot, but somehow still greets the world with a gentle heart and soft spirit. She was found abandoned in an empty home alongside two other dogs, and she arrived at Front Street in rough shape, likely from untreated fleas and allergies. Right now, Cookie needs a little TLC, some comfort, and someone willing to help her feel safe and cared for again. Despite everything, Cookie remains incredibly easygoing. She comes right out of her kennel, walks beautifully on leash with no pulling, and calmly passes other dogs without reaction. She enjoys exploring, staying close to her people, and soaking up gentle attention. Everyone she’s met so far, including staff and volunteers, have been greeted with nothing but friendliness. Cookie may not care much about treats right now, but she absolutely responds to kindness. She has the quiet, grateful demeanor of a dog who just wants peace, comfort, and someone to love her back. She also appears to be likely house-trained. Underneath the rough coat and healing skin is a truly sweet girl who deserves a soft place to land and a family willing to see her for who she is: a very sweet girl who never stopped being gentle, even when life wasn’t gentle with her.
