About Captain
Captain made his way from Modesto, California, after struggling in a busy shelter. He landed on the euthanasia list at just two and a half years old, only to be rescued in the nick of time by caring sponsors. Captain is a medium-sized, black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix with short fur. His story took a turn when it was discovered he’s visually impaired, which likely led to his anxious, unpredictable behavior in the shelter. The reason for his impaired vision isn’t clear—it probably developed after birth—but Captain has shown plenty of heart as he learns to navigate the world using his nose and ears. Captain is house trained and neutered, and his vaccines are up to date. He needs thoughtful introductions to new dogs and responds best to dog-savvy people who understand that he sees things a bit differently. Captain will need someone patient and willing to help him gain confidence and independence at his own pace. The rescue will continue to back him as he finds his footing. Fun fact: Captain is a Libra, often known for their friendly and balanced spirits. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Captain
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Staffordshire Bull Terriers like Captain enjoy outdoor time and benefit from a secure yard or frequent leash walks. With his sight loss, a safely enclosed area is especially important for his comfort and security.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
When properly socialized, Staffordshire Bull Terriers often do well with children. Because Captain is visually impaired, he’ll need respectful children who understand how to interact with a dog that can’t see well.
