About Bear
Bear is ready for adoption and hoping to find his forever home in Crested Butte. After losing his owner in California, Bear landed in a high-kill shelter, but his foster mom took him in and has spent five months helping him settle into mountain life. He's now a well-adjusted, 8-year-old Shepherd, Golden, Chow mix with a calm disposition. Bear enjoys quiet pleasures—relaxing at home, lounging in the yard or by the river, going for car rides, walks, gentle play in the snow, and just sticking close to his people. Bear likes being outdoors but doesn’t need much exercise. Polite on leash and gentle with treats, he's got great manners and responds well to training, making him a solid fit for someone interested in basic training work. He’d do well in a laid-back home with other dogs, but there's not enough information for safe placement with small children or cats. Bear is current on his vaccinations, and while he has a few manageable health issues, anyone interested will get clear details. His foster would love for him to stay close in the Gunnison Valley, so she can stay involved and even offer Bear Care as needed. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Bear
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Bear, a Shepherd/Golden/Chow mix, is happiest in homes with space to relax, a secure yard, and a calm, steady environment. Because of his mix, he adapts well to both rural and suburban living where he can spend time outdoors.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
While Bear adores being outside, his need for exercise isn’t excessive. A moderate-sized, secure yard or regular walks in the neighborhood will keep him content.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Bear’s mix is generally gentle with older children, but since he does not get along with small children, he’s better suited to adult homes or homes with older teenagers.
