About Alder
Alder is a handsome 3-year-old Great Pyrenees who came up from Texas, where the stray population leaves many dogs without hope. Alder was lucky enough to get out, and now he’s looking for his forever home in Nashville, TN. Alder is shy at first but genuinely friendly. He hasn’t had much attention or affection in his life, so he wants to connect but doesn’t quite know how. Expect him to start showing more of his sweet side as he settles in. He responds well to gentle interaction and craves companionship. Alder shows interest in other dogs, especially those who are calm and gentle, but he doesn’t really know how to play yet. He’s still decompressing from his past, so patience will be important. He prefers to eat separately from other dogs due to past resource scarcity on the streets. With cats, he’s indifferent and respectful. Children are fine as long as they’re past the noisy toddler phase—he’d do best in a quieter household. Alder would love a fenced yard, but it’s not required if you’re willing to leash-walk him daily and stay engaged. This is not a dog for someone hoping to just let him out and expect him to stay nearby. Give Alder time and patience, and he’ll show you what the Pyr spirit is all about. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
