About Laurel
Laurel is a quiet, shy Boxer mix, sensitive to new experiences and still discovering the world isn't as intimidating as she once thought. She was found abandoned in a cemetery with a protective male dog and what was likely their puppy, which explains some of her cautiousness. New situations make her nervous, so she'll need adopters who are patient and ready to give her the space and understanding she deserves. Laurel relaxes most around calm, respectful male dogs—especially the one she was found with—so a home with a gentle male dog is a plus. She thrives best in a quiet household with older children, age 12 or up, who can respect her boundaries and understand her need for a slow approach. Younger kids are too overwhelming for her at this point. Although she's hesitant in the beginning, Laurel's trust builds over time, and that journey results in a deeply loyal bond. She won't greet you with leaps and tail wags on day one, but you'll find she quietly works her way into your heart if you let her. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
