This gorgeous little gal was added to the euthanasia list at a local shelter after only 2 days because she was so scared she wouldn't walk on a leash. Thankfully a wonderful family stepped up to foster her, saving her life with only minutes to spare. Now in a home Maddie is thriving and loving every minute of it. Maddy is a good girl with the softest fur. She is doing great with potty and kennel training and loves attention. She walks well on leash and rides nicely in the car ready for your next adventure. She likes all dogs and cats she has met with proper introductions and would love a friendly fur sibling in her forever home. Although she’s blossoming in a home environment, it’s clear Maddy hasn’t had the easiest start in life. Sadly, stray dogs are sometimes treated very poorly, and we suspect she may have experienced that kind of cruelty before she was rescued. She warms up quickly to adults and older kids, but around smaller children she becomes very frightened and will retreat to a corner shaking. With patience, kindness, and positive experiences, we hope she can continue to build confidence, but she will need a family committed to helping her work through those fears. Madeline is estimated to be about 9 months old and currently weighs 40 lbs. We expect she’ll grow into the perfect medium-large sized companion. She has so much love to give, and we can’t wait to find her the forever home she deserves, one that will continue to socialize her, provide training and exercise, and help her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. She may have had a difficult start, but Madeline’s future is bright! Maddie is being fostered in Houston Texas but is available for adoption many places around the country.
