Cherokee prefers to be the only pet in the home, needs regular toenail care, and stays happiest when she can bond closely with her person.
About Cherokee
This could be the start of something paw-some. Cherokee is a 9-year-old female Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) who weighs about 15 pounds and is ready to become your loyal companion. She’s a sweet but shy girl who quickly becomes deeply attached to her person—don’t be surprised if she follows you everywhere, seeking cuddles and cozy naps by your side. Endearingly opinionated and smart, Cherokee has that classic Doxie personality. She absolutely loves her food and isn’t afraid to let you know what she thinks, sometimes with her adorable vocalizations. Cherokee needs to be the only dog in your home or with a human who is truly experienced managing packs; she doesn’t enjoy sharing her space with other dogs. She has the long-and-low body of a Dachshund, so her new family should be prepared to keep her healthy and safe—maintaining a healthy weight, using ramps or steps, and trimming her famously fast-growing toenails regularly. She is house trained and will always let you know when she needs to go out. If you love dressing up your pup, Cherokee is all for it and will proudly show off her dresses and sweaters! She would love to go for walks and does not necessarily require a fenced yard. Due to her gentle but particular nature, a home without children under 10 would be best. Cherokee is waiting to be your fashion-forward, one-and-only loyal sidekick. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

Questions about Cherokee
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Chiweenies, a mix of Chihuahua and Dachshund, thrive in both apartments and houses as long as they get enough attention and exercise. They appreciate being close to their people and benefit from an environment where they aren't left alone for long periods.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Chiweenies do not require a large backyard and can do well with moderate outdoor walks and play sessions. Daily walks and occasional time outside on leash or in a small yard are usually sufficient.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chiweenies can live happily with children, especially those who are gentle and respectful. However, due to their small size and sometimes shy nature, they do best with older kids who understand how to interact with dogs properly.
