About Dixie
Start your journey together! Apply now. Dixie is a sweet and gentle adult dog with a loving personality and a shy disposition. Rescued after life as a stray, she thrived despite her challenging past and proved to be an exceptional mother to her seven puppies. While some may have accused her of mischief, Dixie has only shown good behavior around chickens, other dogs, and even cats, making her a wonderful addition to a multi-pet home. Her friendliness shines through, though her slight shyness has an understandable history—she has an old BB embedded in her back, which the vet considers safe and may address when she's spayed. Dixie has recovered from previous injuries, and her calm and easy-going nature truly came out during her veterinary visits and leash walks. If you are looking for a loving, social companion with a gentle spirit, Dixie is ready to become part of your family. With a birthday on February 13, Dixie is an Aquarius—a sign known for independence and compassion. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, house trained, and hopeful for a forever home where she can continue to blossom. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

Questions about Dixie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mixes are adaptable and do well in both apartments and houses as long as they receive attention and daily exercise. A home with a secure yard or regular walks is ideal for their active and curious nature.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This breed mix is small to medium in size and will thrive with moderate outdoor space, such as a secure backyard or frequent access to parks or walking areas. They enjoy regular walks and playtime but don't require a large yard.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Rat Terriers and Chihuahuas can be good with respectful children, especially when socialized early. Supervision is always recommended, as they can be sensitive to rough handling due to their smaller stature.
