Meet River! This handsome 1.5-year-old Labrador Retriever mix is bursting with personality and plenty of love to share. He's on a journey to refine his manners and needs a dedicated family willing to support his growth into the best companion possible. Recently returned to our rescue due to some mouthy behavior that led to bites, River's actions weren't meant to harm, but we want to ensure he finds the right home. His excitement sometimes gets the better of him, especially during play. That's why he's looking for an experienced adopter familiar with training techniques to help him establish appropriate boundaries. River is currently enrolled in a one-on-one professional training program, which will aid him in managing his impulses and interacting appropriately with others. His eagerness to learn shines through when given the right structure and encouragement. One of River's greatest joys is the company of other dogs. He truly values having a canine buddy to play with, which helps him expend his energy and satisfy his social needs. As he undergoes heartworm treatment, it’s vital that his adopter follows a specific care plan, including limiting his activity until a vet clears him. Woof Animal Rescue is committed to providing the necessary support throughout this process. Despite his challenges, River radiates sweetness and affection. He simply needs guidance to make the right choices. A few things to keep in mind: he would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teenagers. River is not suitable for households with young children or cats, as he has a tendency to chase them.
