Meet River 🤎 River is a young chocolate lab mix (estimated 1–2 years old) weighing about 56 pounds, and he’s the perfect mix of playful energy and easygoing charm. He loves his toys, enjoys a good game of fetch, and will happily show off his zoomies—but he’s just as content relaxing with his people once he’s had his fun. River gets along great with other dogs and absolutely loves to play. He may get a little excited and bark when he sees other dogs because he wants to say hi, but with a little redirection, he settles quickly. He’d do wonderfully in a home with another playful dog or an adopter who can keep him active and engaged. He’s also really good on a leash, making walks easy and enjoyable. River is comfortable around people and does well in busier environments, so he can fit into a variety of home settings. River is heartworm positive, which sounds scary but truly isn’t. It’s not contagious to other dogs, and treatment is very manageable. He will need a few months of treatment and some activity restriction during that time—and the rescue will cover the cost of his treatment.
