She was found as a stray, extremely underweight and in rough condition, having endured prolonged malnutrition. After receiving urgent medical care and spending a couple of weeks at the vet hospital, Alexis is now thriving in a devoted foster home, where she continues her impressive recovery. In her foster environment, Alexis is revealing her playful side—she enjoys toys, is discovering the fun of tennis balls and is learning the game of fetch. Her favorite squeaky toy pig brings her joy, and she’s growing stronger and more active every day. She already knows “sit” and is making progress with “wait.” Her leash skills are excellent, and she’s getting more playful with her foster siblings as her energy returns. As her coat fills back in, Alexis is looking and feeling fabulous. Alexis gets along well with other dogs, though high-value items such as food and toys should be managed thoughtfully. She is incredibly sweet, happiest when she can follow her person around and settle in as your loyal little shadow. A total cuddle bug who enjoys short walks, Alexis has quickly won the hearts of everyone she meets. She is not yet spayed as she needs to gain a bit more weight, so Alexis is currently available through Ruff Start Rescue’s Foster-to-Adopt Program. Her new family should be prepared to take her to follow-up appointments at the rescue’s veterinary clinic in Princeton, MN as she completes her journey to full health.
