About Abby

Abby is a five-year-old female Newfoundland who has fought her way back from neglect. After years spent mostly alone in an outbuilding, she entered rescue with some developmental quirks and smaller stature. In her foster home, Abby discovered her love for structure: she claims her crate as her private den, collecting favorite toys inside, and her foster mom calls her a 'Little Cave Dragon.' She thrives on a routine and prefers a home without many unexpected guests. Stability is what brings her out of her shell. Abby is selective about dog companions. She does best with those who respect her boundaries and doesn’t appreciate other dogs crowding her or her belongings, though she makes an exception for her buddy Gia. She’s curious about cats but redirects easily when called. Abby prefers not to be overly cuddled, usually seeking out affection on her own terms. Because of this, she’s unpredictable with children and best suited for an adult home. Outdoors, she is up for gentle adventures—hiking and swimming could be on the menu if introduced gradually. Abby needs a physically fenced yard, at least four feet tall. She manages mild summer allergies with daily Apoquel. Her unique quirks—and sense of humor—make her memorable (yes, she once leapt into a car trunk just for kicks). Abby is in North Branch, MN. Adopters must travel to Minnesota for adoption, as she is not shipped or transported. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
