About Gia
Gia is a 6-year-old female Newfoundland with a long black coat, born in May 2019 (hello, Gemini energy—curious and sociable). She’s spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and manages year-round allergies with a daily Apoquel. Gia is classic Newfoundland: incredibly sweet but also a bit pushy. She loves being in the spotlight and may ignore cues from other dogs, sometimes missing signals if the environment gets noisy. She isn’t fond of young dogs creating chaos and doesn’t enjoy puppy antics. In her foster home, Gia shares the yard with another calm female, Abby, and the two get along well. She usually ignores cats, unless they decide to snuggle up, which she tolerates with mixed feelings. Be prepared for heavy drool—it’s part of her charm. Gia’s leash skills need serious work; she’s strong and tends to pull hard, so anyone interested will need to commit to a basic training class before adoption. A securely fenced yard is a must, but daily walks aren’t required if you prefer other play options. Barking for attention is common, so she isn’t ideal for apartments or places where noise is an issue. She hasn’t lived with young children, and due to her dislike of unpredictable energy, she isn’t recommended for homes with young kids. Gia is house trained and already knows "sit," but she’ll need further obedience work. Adoptions must be finalized in Minnesota, and only adopting families may transport her home. Gia is looking for someone experienced and attentive to her needs. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.

Questions about Gia
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Gia, as a Newfoundland Dog, thrives best in a home with ample indoor space and a fenced yard. Her breed appreciates a calm, roomy environment where she can be part of the family.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Newfoundlands like Gia benefit from a large, securely fenced yard to roam and play. While they can live in more urban spaces, regular access to an outdoor area is ideal for their size and exercise needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Typically, Newfoundland Dogs are good with respectful older kids, but Gia isn’t a fit for homes with young children due to her discomfort with unpredictable energy. Families with teens or adults would be a better match.
