About "smiling" Sam

“Smiling” Sam is a three-year-old male Boxer mix with a wide, friendly grin and a sturdy frame. Back in July 2024, Sam took himself on a trip to a local nursing home—the kind of opportunist you want in your corner. He charmed the residents before an elderly volunteer scooped him up, got him neutered and vaccinated, and set him up with solid leash skills and house manners. For months, she walked him daily and made sure he was loved, even though she hadn't had a dog of her own in decades. Since arriving at the shelter, some of Sam’s consistency has slipped (it isn’t easy to keep up routines in a crowded environment), but he still knows his basics and responds eagerly to food rewards. He genuinely enjoys playing with other dogs, as long as intros are handled properly, though his play style is enthusiastic. He gets along with children, too. There’s no info on cats—he hasn’t met any here. Sam has a short coat in brown and white, and his friendly style is unmistakable. Give him a chance to settle in and he’ll be back to his best.
