Asha Asha is a stunning one-year-old soulful beauty who recently joined us from an Ohio shelter, bringing along a heart full of love and a pair of the longest, softest velvet ears you’ve ever felt. She is the ultimate "velcro" dog, happiest when she is smothering her favorite people in kisses, drooping her floppy ears over your face, or settling in for a long snuggle with her head on your lap and a paw in your hand. Because she is a sensitive soul who can be apprehensive of strangers and cautiously protective of her space, she is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with a predictable routine and not a lot of visitors coming and going. She thrives in a calm environment where she can look to her people for confidence and leadership as she navigates the world at her own pace. A securely fenced yard is a must for this girl, giving her a safe place to enjoy her adorable, high-energy zoomies and "Chewbacca" play noises without the stress of the outside world. While she may take a little time to adjust to a new environment, she is a polite girl who has already mastered a solid sit, great recall, and the patience to wait at doors. She walks nicely on a leash most of the time, though her strength and enthusiasm mean she still needs a bit of guidance when she gets excited. Asha has done well with medium-sized dogs, dog-savvy cats, and chickens though she does find squirrels quite interesting and may occasionally check the counters for a snack. She prefers to be petted on her own terms and can be startled by fast movements, so she truly needs a patient, mature household that understands her need for boundaries during introductions.
