About Bear Pyr Bridge

Bear is a 4-year-old Great Pyrenees with a fluffy cream-and-black coat—a bit smaller than most Pyrs but with all the classic charm. After losing his Virginia home in Hurricane Helene, he’s adjusted beautifully in foster care and has become a loyal, loving companion. Bear is gentle and affectionate with his people, though it takes a bit of patience for him to warm up to new faces or fast movements. You’ll likely see some barky introductions at first, but never any aggression. He does well with other dogs and familiar children given some time to settle in. Bear thrives in a home that values calm routines and slow introductions. He loves yard time, digging classic Pyr holes, and running zoomies. Indoors, he’s potty trained and content napping in his spot—just guard your shoes, as they’re his one weakness. Leash walks are smooth as long as he’s on a harness. His health is solid, and he’s up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention. Bear’s ideal home features a securely fenced yard and a patient, experienced family who appreciates the guardian nature of the breed. He doesn’t need a crowd—just space, a soft bed, and a loving household ready to earn his trust and see his silly, affectionate side flourish. Bear is currently available through the PYR Bridge program, a home-to-home rehoming service managed by Great Pyrenees Rescue Southeast. Click apply to start the adoption process.
