Hi! I'm Jerry Lee — professional cuddle expert, certified good boy, and full-time believer that people are the best thing ever. I'm honestly one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet. I love humans so much that my default setting is “Hello! Please pet me!” I walk right up to women without hesitation, and while I can be just a tiny bit cautious around some men at first, it only takes me a second to realize you're a friend. My people think this comes from my past, but every new positive meeting helps me grow more confident — and I'm already making huge progress. One of my newest accomplishments? Car rides! I now hop right into the car like a pro because I know adventures are coming. On our third outing, I finally stuck my head out the window, closed my eyes, and took the biggest happy breath ever. It was a whole moment. I may be a little unsure with a brand-new person or car at first, but once I figure out there's fun involved, I'm all in. On leash, I'm a pretty easy companion when I wear my front-clip harness. I can pull a bit with a martingale, but if you remind me you're there, I check back in and even sit like the polite gentleman I am. The world is still new to me — automatic doors, store aisles, and busy places are things I'm learning about — but loud noises like horns and sirens don't bother me at all. Bikes and strollers mostly earn curious looks, and honestly... that skateboard surprised both of us! My favorite activity? Cuddling. If you sit down, I will be in your lap within seconds, gently giving kisses and tucking my head into your chest. I even did this with the vet I had just met. I'm a soft, affectionate boy who just wants to be close to his people. Sometimes when I get playful, my excitement turns into a little jumpy or mouthy behavior, but it's all happy energy and easily guided. I'm friendly with other dogs, did great at my first vet visit, and handled all the poking and prodding like a champ. I know “sit,” take treats politely, respond to my name, and my recall is already pretty good. Oh — and I LOVE fetch. Throw the ball and I'll proudly bring it right back so we can do it again! Right now I'm a tall, lanky guy working on filling out — about 10 more pounds and I'll be looking extra handsome. I'm still learning that the world is safe and that my people always come back. At first I worried when my person stepped out of the car, but now I patiently wait for the door to open and my cue to hop out. Every day I feel a little braver. What I really want is a family willing to give me a little time, kindness, and reassurance while I continue to leave my past behind. I'm trying so hard, and I promise — with love and patience — I will reward you with loyalty, laughter, and endless snuggles.
