Freya is a large, adult female terrier mix with a soft white and fawn short coat currently in Charles Town, WV. She is three years and five months old, and her vaccinations are up to date. Freya is not yet house trained and has been spayed. She could benefit from a sensitive skin diet and care around the sun, but she is making great progress as she heals under the rescue’s care.

About Freya

Freya arrived just after giving birth to five healthy puppies, pouring every bit of energy into caring for them despite being painfully thin herself. Even when she had nothing left, her love for her pups was unshakeable. Watching her recover has been a privilege; she meets new people with a gentle tail wag and hopeful eyes, greeting everyone as a possible friend. There’s a quiet trust in her, whether she’s waiting patiently for a treat or tossing toys during playtime. Walks with Freya are peaceful, and her simple joy is a reminder of what matters. Though her history is full of hardship, including visible scars and a recent heartworm diagnosis, Freya’s core is all resilience and kindness. She’s gained weight, is preparing for heartworm treatment, and stays loving and patient, even during tough days. Right now, she’s seeking a foster-to-adopt home; medical care and supplies are covered, and her new family just needs to provide comfort and bring her for treatments. Freya’s sensitivity to sunlight means she’ll need morning or evening outings, and a gentle diet for her skin—think limited ingredients and fish-based foods. Her journey isn’t finished, but she’s more than ready for a second chance and a real home. Her puppies are finding families of their own, and she deserves that same happy ending.
