About Momma Blackberry

Momma Blackberry is a 3-year-old female Domestic Medium Hair cat who was taken in on 04/18/2026. Momma Blackberry is a black, unpatterned Domestic Medium Hair cat who came into care following removal from a home environment where she had recently raised a litter of kittens. She weighs approximately 11 pounds. Her history indicates she was originally a stray taken into a home during the winter and had been living indoors prior to intake. She has an adult-only home recommendation due to reported behavioral concerns in the home environment. At intake, Momma Blackberry was described as calm and responsive, moving freely with staff and showing affiliative behaviors such as rubbing on handlers and guiding them within the home. However, her prior history includes sudden and severe aggressive incidents toward a caregiver, including biting and chasing behavior that led to her surrender. Because of this, she is noted to require careful handling and structured management in a home setting. In the shelter environment, her behavior has been mixed but improving. She has shown periods of strong friendliness and affection, including seeking attention, rubbing, rolling, and purring during interactions. At other times, she has displayed defensive signals such as growling when approached too quickly, though she has not escalated to aggression in shelter care when given space and respect for her boundaries. Medically, Momma Blackberry is in good overall condition. She is up to date on rabies and FVRCP vaccinations and has received routine parasite prevention. Her physical exam showed normal body condition, healthy organ function, and only minor skin cleanliness concerns at intake. She was noted to be generally healthy and stable. Momma Blackberry would likely do best in a calm, experienced adult-only home that understands feline body language and can provide her with structure, patience, and respect for her boundaries while allowing her affectionate side to continue to emerge safely.
