About Billyray

Billyray is clever and always ready for fun. At about 2 years old and around 75 lbs, he brings a lot of playful energy to every day. He is a large golden retriever/leonberger mix with a long golden bicolor coat—a real standout. An active home or one with another playful dog would suit him best. He's eager when meeting new people and sometimes can’t resist jumping up in excitement, though he learns fast and has made great progress. Busy, noisy environments haven’t suited him, but in foster homes he’s relaxed and charmed everyone. He's great with volunteers and gets along well with most dogs. Billyray finds chickens hard to resist, so a chicken-free home is needed. Families with small kids should stay alert, as his size and exuberant style could easily knock over little ones. He responds well to correction and craves structure—he wants to be good, he just needs a little help. Billyray is house trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. Questions about Billyray

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Billyray’s golden retriever/leonberger mix background means he thrives in a home with space to play, preferably with an active family. A house with a yard or easy access to outdoor adventures is ideal.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Billyray will do best with plenty of outdoor space—think a securely fenced yard or regular trips to a dog park. Both golden retrievers and leonbergers enjoy room to stretch their legs and burn off energy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Billyray gets along with children, but given his size and playful nature, older kids who know how to interact with big dogs are a better match. He might accidentally bump smaller kids during play.
