About Hazel

Hazel is a small, scrappy survivor who spent seven years with a family before being left at a crowded city shelter. She was overwhelmed and kept to herself, but eventually landed in a caring foster home where she’s found her footing and is ready for a fresh start. About 7 years old and around 13 lbs, Hazel likely has some Yorkie and Cairn Terrier in the mix, but frankly, she's just Hazel. Her foster notes that she is house trained, walks well on leash at her own pace, and is happiest rolling in blankets, on a lap, or wrestling her favorite toy into submission. She thrives in a quiet, adult home where gentle handling is the rule, and would do best with respectful older children (teens and up) due to her size and age. Hazel gets along nicely with other similar-sized, calm dogs and is completely fine with cats. She doesn’t care for crates but will tolerate them if needed. She takes a little time to warm up to new people and can bark at strange noises, but once she feels safe, her playful, slightly bossy granny personality comes through. Give Hazel a treat and she’s in heaven. This small dog is independent yet affectionate, quirky, and looking for someone who’ll let her do her thing while also giving her lots of love. Think you could see her silly side in your home? Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
