Coming from a hoarding background, he was unfamiliar with toys, walks, or being a typical dog, so everything still feels new and occasionally overwhelming to him. When Ru first arrived, he was reserved and his coat was so severely matted it needed to be completely shaved. Now, as his fur grows back, so too does his confidence, and it’s clear he will be an adorable companion, ready to enjoy life. Amazingly, just within a month, Ru has made big strides—playing with toys, discovering the joys of walks, and realizing that people can be kind. Ru delights in small pleasures, like a simple dog bone, and is learning to trust those around him. He still has a journey ahead. Ru will need plenty of time—possibly weeks or even months—to feel fully secure and to let his true personality shine. Expect gradual progress, along with magical moments where you see him open up for pets and affection, evidence that he’s finally feeling safe. Quiet and gentle, Ru would do well in a peaceful home. He enjoys the company of other dogs but would also be content as your only companion. Crate trained and sleeping through the night, he is becoming more comfortable every day.
