Her life before rescue was difficult—coming from a hoarding situation, Myrtle never knew the comforts of toys, a soft bed, or even the simple joys of being a dog. Understandably, the world is still a bit scary and unfamiliar for her. When Myrtle arrived, she was shut down and uncertain, and her fur had to be shaved due to severe matting. As her hair grows back, she's already blossoming into an adorable little girl, finally starting to feel as good as she deserves. Day by day, Myrtle is learning to play with toys and discovering that humans are kind. Her journey is just beginning, and she will need time—weeks, maybe even months—to truly trust and come out of her shell. There may be slow days, but there will also be incredible moments when she leans in for pets and allows herself to feel safe. Myrtle is a gentle soul who would thrive in a calm home. She gets along with other dogs but would be just as happy soaking up all your love as the only pet. She is crate trained (although she'd prefer not to be crated), sleeps through the night, and learns a little more about being a dog every day. Myrtle enjoys being outside and running around in the yard. She needs someone who will give her the patient, loving chance she’s never had—if you do, Myrtle will become your best friend and blossom into the happiest dog ever.
