He is both potty trained and crate trained, and he settles nicely into a routine. Romeo is very expressive and does a great job communicating what he needs-he'll do a little hop and bark when he wants to go outside or is hoping for some attention. When he gets really excited, he may growl, but it's simply his unique way of showing his enthusiasm. He sleeps happily in his crate at night and does very well with it. Even without the door being closed or locked, he chooses to stay there all night on his own. Romeo has done well with a senior dog in the home, but he has struggled with another resident dog and has needed to be kept separated. Because of this, he will likely do best as the only dog in the home. He can be alert and vocal when he hears unfamiliar noises or someone knocks at the door, so he likely would not be the best fit for a home with shared walls. Romeo does not show any issues around food or toys, but he can be a little protective of his person. Overall, he is a loving, expressive boy who just needs a patient home where he can continue to feel safe, secure, and confident. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car - it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package!
