About Vivian

I want to introduce you to a very special dog named Vivian—whose story almost ended before it truly began. Vivian, a young adult bully mix, was sitting quietly in a pound, overlooked and running out of time. She had come from a difficult past that left her extremely shy and unsure of the world around her. Sadly, she was placed on the euthanasia list. Vivian came into foster care on April 10, scared and shut down. She was especially timid around men and still takes time to warm up to new people, though she tends to trust women a bit faster. Despite her fear, there was always something gentle and hopeful about her. Since then, Vivian has slowly started to come out of her shell. She’s learning what it means to feel safe. Her kennel has become her comfort zone—a place she goes to rest when she needs quiet time. When her foster mom is away, she settles in there nicely. She’s also discovered the simple joys of toys, especially stuffies, and she loves watching the world go by through the patio window. Vivian gets along wonderfully with small dogs, which really helps her relax and feel more secure. She’s still working on the basics—she’s not yet house or kennel trained, and she does pull on the leash during walks, though she truly enjoys being outside. Mealtime is also a learning process; she needs a slow feeder or puzzle bowl, and someone to hold it, otherwise she’ll tip it and eat too quickly. Through it all, Vivian is trying. Every single day, she’s learning how to be a loved pet. Her journey is one of patience, growth, and second chances. She didn’t just need saving—she needed someone to believe she was worth saving. Now, she’s on her way to becoming the dog she was always meant to be. All she needs is a forever home to continue that journey. Vivian is proof that even the shyest hearts can heal when given love and time. Adoption Fee: $450 (no checks) Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through. Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am - 2 pm at Apple Valley Petco (7590 150th St W, Apple Valley, MN 55124) Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children. The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals! CAN YOU FOSTER?
